    DAN AND MARY (NEUHARDT) SCHLENKER Dan Schlenker left Bessarabia in Russia in 1913 at the age of 16 and came to Canada with his brother David. In 1918 he emigrated to Montana and was promptly drafted into the U.S. Army. He was on a ship to France when the Armistice was signed November 11th. After recovering from the flu, his job was to bury the war dead. His brother David had homesteaded near Jordan, so Dan went there in March 1919 but did not have much luck growing crops, so turned his homestead...
