The McCone County Annual Volunteer Fireman's Ball will be this Saturday, March 16th with music provided by Mountain Country Band. Dancing starts at 8:30 at VFW Post #4813. Tickets are available at the door or from any of the local firemen. Each ticket enters you in the drawing for many great door prizes. Need not be present to win! This is a fundraiser for the local Fire Department and always a fun night out. Support our McCone County Fire Department as these volunteers give it their all to protect people and property when the smoke rises.

It's Prom time for Circle High School students Saturday March 16th. The gymnasium will be filled with young women and men in their fancy attire enjoying their special evening. Rumor has it, the décor is a neon theme this year so be prepared for some bright colors. Have fun and be safe, Prom goers!

This Friday, March 15th, the District Junior High Band Honor Concert will be held in Circle High School Auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m. Students from Circle, Sidney, Savage, East Fairview and Richey are participating in this evening of music. There will be a spaghetti dinner from 5-6 in the cafeteria ($8.00) as a fundraiser for the students going on the band trip to Denver this summer.

Brockway whist report for 3/3/23 by Pat Breitbach. Eight eager card flippers answered the bell for the 6 pm start time of the weekly whist games. With all of the usual suspects arriving on time, the games kicked off in a timely manner on a wintery March evening just as the sunlight faded into darkness. We had just the right count for two tables of play. Unfortunately local news of significance was rather thin as the players shuffled and dealt their way through the six four hand games of play to decide who would claim the first and second place payday for the week. Barb Smalis with her uncanny ability to keep track of the cards played, who had what in their hands, and what was best to lead with, all while carrying on an interesting conversation, racked up the winning score for the evening with four games circled as winners and a total score of 49 tricks. In a close second Bernis Taylor matched the four games circled and a total score of 47 points making this the third week running that his steady, thoughtful strategic play has put him in the winner's column. It was a couple hours of enjoyable interaction at the infamous BS Club for all of us. I am already looking forward to next week's gathering and would be delighted to have you join in!!
