Last week's weather brought several inches of wet snow to the county, along with some drifts and nasty road conditions. Fortunately the temperatures were mild and the moisture seems to be welcomed by most folks.

Four CHS wrestlers competed at the State meet this past weekend. Anson Taylor, Bryce Becker, Paden Nelson and Ruben Nelson and coaches Ty Taylor and Cade Taylor got a nice send off from their fellow wresters, students and staff and were escorted out of town with sirens on their way to Billings. As of Saturday morning, Bryce and Paden were in the consolation semi finals and will place at State. Good job, Wildcats!

Good luck to the CHS basketball teams at District 3C Tournament in Glasgow! Tournament action begins Wednesday and runs through Saturday. Go get 'em, Cats!

The Montana State Elks Association “Hoop Shoot” State Contest was held in Livingston, Montana February 3, 2024. Congratulations to Miss Pressley Neuman! She will be representing Montana in the girls' 12-13 age division at the Regional contest to be held in Rapid City. Pressley is the daughter of Bryan and Jess Neuman of Florence, MT and the granddaughter of Roger and Connie Eissinger. Also throwing free throws at the State Contest was Kate Nasner, daughter of Scott and Jan Nasner of Vida. Kate is in seventh grade at Circle Elementary. Izzy Kleinasser, daughter of Matt and Kaylee, of Big Timber competed in the 10-11 year old division at the State contest. Way to go, ladies!

The Junior High Music Festival was held Friday, February 9th in Glendive. Nine students, under the direction of Mike Bartelson, performed vocal and instrumental pieces that were adjudicated. There were eight superior ratings and one excellent rating for these performances. Congratulations!

The 2024 Dixie Jam 3 on 3 Tournament was held in Scobey February 4th. Circle's 4th grade boys, consisting of Parker Hanson, Jack Kountz, Gunner Meissner and Matthew Nasner, won their division. The Circle 7th grade girls team won their division as well. Lily Beery, Kate Nasner, Paightyn Stensland, Falynn Phillips and Caydence Kuntz played in four games to win the championship. There also was a fourth grade girls team and a 6/7th grade boys team competing for Circle.

Jack Kountz celebrated his 11th birthday playing basketball in the tournament. The previous night he and his family and friends celebrated with cake and bowling in Scobey where they spent the night after attending high school basketball games in Lustre.

There hasn't been the usual whist gatherings in Brockway for the past couple of Sundays due to various reasons, but hopefully those card sharks will be back at it soon!

Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day. By the time this issue is printed, the Super Bowl will be over so however the outcome, there's always next year! Go Steelers!
