Donna was born on October 14, 1935 to her parents Ervin and Ethel (Schwend) Ellis in Bridger, Montana, upstairs in Grandma Schwend's house. She went to grade school at St. Xavier, Montana and graduated from Hardin High School in Hardin, Montana with the class of 1953. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school and started working as a hairdresser. Donna was united in marriage to Bob Delp on December 16, 1956 in Hardin after his discharge from the Army. They moved to the badlands of North Dakota where they ranched for two years. In 1964 they moved to the ranch in Richey where they have remained ever since.

She was a wonderful cook, a hard worker, and a country gal that loved the ranch and remained by Bob's side for sixty-six years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, George Eichhorn, Jack Delp, and Grandson-in-law Brandon Birkley.
