The Gladstone 12/258/1915--9/21/2023

101 Main Street, was home to The Gladstone, one of Circle original buildings on Main street, burned to the ground on September 21st, 2023. The Gladstone was built in 1915 during the building of the Great Northern Railroad. The Gladstone was a two-story Hotel that had weathered many changes over the decades. Prohibition caused the local bar inside The Gladstone to close and it was never re-opened. The Gladstone was added to the National Register of Historic Placed in 1980. The fire consumed the building with many community members watching the piece of Circle history taken by the flames in the night. The cause of the fire is unknown other then is appeared to have started in basement. Fire fighters, first responders and law enforcement were forced to close Highway 200 through Circle for safety reasons. The fire was under control after 1am. Highway was re-opened. Circle Volunteer Fire Department again amazed the community with its fast and thorough job in captaining the fire to only one structure. The Banner would like to THANK the Circle Volunteer Fire Department, First responders and Law enforcement for taking such good care of us!!
