As of July 16,1998,Lyle and Maridel Kassner of Circle are the new owners of Midland Lumber in Circle. They purchased the business from Joe and Betty Killham, who have owned and operated the store since 12 years ago this com-ing Thanksgiving. Lyle is a lifelong resident of Circle,while Maridel was raised at Fallon.They have made Circle their home for the past 21 years. When Lyle needed to look for new employment,t hey knew they wanted to stay in Circle.They made the decision to be self em-ployed,and the purchase of the lumberyard was made. Maridel is leaving her job at the Clerk & Re-corder's office to help out at their new business. The name of the business will remain the same, and no changes

PRESIDENT HARDING DIES AT SAN FRANCISCO
"The president died at 7:30 p. m Mrs. Harding and the two nurses Miss Ruth Powderly and Miss Sue Dauser were in the room at the time. Mrs.Harding was reading to the president when utterly without warning he collapsed, and all recognized that the end had come. A stroke of apoplexy was the cause of his death."
Through the death of President Harding, Vice President Coolidge assumes the role of President for the next two years.
