THE SCHOOL REPORTER

The High School play has been chosen Le namo of il is Ewry, Hurry,Hurry." We sure will have to hurry too, if we are to get it ready in time. Gilbert, Floyd, Donald, Lloyd, Malcolm,Gladys,Eula, Frances,and Elsie are included in the cast.

Donald, Wilson and Floyd returned to school Tuesday after an absence of over a week.

Absences and Tardies

The chicken pox has reduced high school attendance materially. This is excusable. But on top of this there have been recently a number of absences altogether unessential. The standards of a high school depend to a great extent upon the regularity of attendance. It then behooves every student to attend with regularity. Some students don't go home for a weekend but for weekends; that is the close of one week and the beginning of the next week are consumed in going and coming from home. Then in some cases the home visit becomes prolonged and a week, two weeks.

Oscar Anderson is now the proud owner of a brand-new Ford Touring Car, which he purchased last week from the Sutter Motor Co.

Leonard Weed, Hjalmer Thorsness and Albert Limmesand expect to leave soon for Idaho where they will seek employment in the logging camps.

Missoula – a completely equipped distillery was found in a tent in the wilds if Davis Creek gulch country seven miles south of Loto by a raiding party a few days ago.

HERZOG KILLED TRUCK CRASH

William Herzberg,26, was instantly killed last Saturday morning when a truck he was driving upset. The accident happened on the Circle-Weldon road, about 11 or 12 miles north-west of here near the A. G. Wheatley farm. According to local authorities the truck had been taken from the Elmer Buell yard here about midnight. It was a large five-ton truck, with semi-trailer detached at the time it was taken. Hearing someone drive off with the truck, Mr. Buell got in his car and followed and was the first to arrive at the scene of accident. It is reported that he had been driving at an excessive rate of speed. The truck had left road at a fairly smooth stretch, hit side ditch and rolled over. Young Herzberg had been thrown out of cab but feet caught in truck. Coroner Chas W. Yackey, Sheriff Sig Cusker and County Attorney Homer A Hoover, were called to the scene of the accident. No inquest was held, death was a/ccidental. The immediate cause of death is given as multiple skull fractures, crushed chest, multiple cuts and bruises due to truck he was driving over turned.

COUNTY NEWS

Sunday was no doubt a Happy Day for Don Yarger. He received word that a baby boy arrived for them at the Miles City hospital that day. The Yargers have two daughters also. Frank Kasten Jr is home on furlough and visiting relatives south of Watkins. The Young Peoples club was held last Wednesday evening at Mrs Addie Bond's home. A most enjoyable evening was had by all who attended, and they were entertained by Mrs Thelma Fhelps and her cousin Allen Bond.

SHADE CREEK

Mr and MRs Ray Jones of Watkins met at Sheep Mountain Hall and gave them a surprise community farewell party. They are leaving for Glendive soon after the sale. Their farm has been rented out to Ray's brother Bill Jones and son Ronald of Rochester Minn.

SCHEER NAMED MANAGER

Vernon Scheer was selected as General manager of Mid-Rivers Telephone Cooperative at a special meeting of the board of Directors. Scheer and his wife Cloey have resided in Cirlce 18 years. Their five children are all grown except Daryl who is a freshman in Circle High School.

WITH THE KEEP PROGRAM

More than 30 Montanans gathered in Bozeman the week of Feb 19-23 to study the principles of group communication in a workshop conducted under the auspices of the Kellog- Extension Education Project (KEEP). The workshop is funded with a grant from the W.K. Kellog Foundation and conducted by the Cooperative Extension Service at Montana State University. Charles Davis was here from Three Forks visiting Floyd and Clara Davis and Bogars.

Mr.and Mrs.Melvin Johnson retuned from their winter home in North Carolina last week.

John Schillinger completed two years post-graduate work and earned his master's degree in microbiology at Montana State University. He is present ly doing research work for six months in the laboratory at MSU with additional equipment being sent out for him from Minneapolis.

Ray and Betty Nefzger attended a church convention in Missoula last week.

Alan Loendorf spent his spring vacation with friends and relatives in California.

Anton Abraham received word of the death of his brother in Minnesota.

Ordination rites held for Edward Zabrocki

Edward Zabrocki, was ordained to the Order of Diaconate at rites performed by Bishop Eldon Schuster at St.Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Sunday, March 18. Edward is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Zabrocki of Circle.

The Circle Volunteer Fire Dept. answered a call Sunday to the Leo Kahn farm which turned out to be a false alarm. It seems Kahm was burning stubble and passers-by reported it think-ing it was a prairie fire.

Louis "Sonny" Schriver, County and City Fire Chief, asks that anyone planning to burn should notify either himself or the county sheriff so as to eliminate

any future unncecessary trips for the volunteer firemen and the county truck. Curiosity seekers are not to call the fire department to find out the location of a fire. Schri-ver said it is extremely necessary that the line be left open for emergency use only.

dedication of pews was held during the worship service at First Lutheran Church on Sunday morning. Pastor Wes Dunbar mentioned that the congregation was most thankful to the former Brockway Community Church for the gift of eight pews which now are an addition in the balcony area

of the church. They replace the use of folding chairs that were adequate, but not ideal. The refurbished pews were in memory of Leonard and Irene Pawlowski,and George and Carrie Nagle by members of their families. The pews were completely refinished and Pastor Dunbar extended
