Patti Soares Awarded Service to Agriculture Award

Patti Soares, was awarded Service to Agriculture Award, Presented at the Chamber of Commerce Ag Appreciation banquet. Patti (Berger) Soares was raised in Circle the 5th child of 7siblings. Patti left for College after High School then returned to Circle after College and worked at the FSA office, she later transferred to Columbus and ultimately to a statewide level when she moved to the Gallatin Valley to work at the FSA state office in Bozeman. Patti was the first Chief Program Specialist in Montana. Patti shared that her biggest influence is her Mother "She is always positive and encouraging, she never stops, she's an energizer bunny, going all the time." Patti's favorite quote is John Newbern's Law: There are those that make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those that wonder what happened. Patti prefers an Orange over an apple. Patti is very active in many agricultural committees, Gallatin Cattlewomen, Gallatin Farm Bureau, and Chamber Ag-Committee and is the current Chairperson of the Chamber Ag Committee Farm Fair. The Farm Fair is for 4th grade students to experience a working ranch. The Fair consist of 16 different stations, beef, goats, dairy, pigs, MT crops, potatoes, and wheat to name a few. There are generally 1100 registered 4th graders. 250 volunteers help to facilitate the 300 students that go through every day of the fair. The Farm Fair was started 20 years ago and is aimed at educating the younger generation on the importance of agriculture. As stated by Patti 'agriculture is getting hit from all angles, producers needs to band together and fight. Patti is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Patti has a grace that you don't see much of anymore in this world. It was an honor and pleasure to interview Patti. Congratulations on your award I have a feeling it is well deserved and overdue!
