Last week's storm reminded Montanans of the harsh reality of winter. Cold temperatures and blowing and drifting snow created the usual problems of bad roads, poor visibility and concerns about livestock. Calving season is quickly approaching for area ranchers and on some ranches, already here.

Crews were at Cord and Kristin Bieber's Tuesday to shear some of their flock. Fortunately Biebers have a big barn to work in and to keep the sheep dry and warm. There are more to be sheared, but that will happen later and hopefully with better weather.
