Anyone can love the mountains, but it takes a soul to love the pairie

Eastern Montana Gymnastics

Gymnastics in the Big little Town of Circle. I was surprised to hear we had gymnastics. I met with Coach Kama Urton. She has a history with gymnastics she studied, performed gymnastics through her younger years. Kama, who grew up in Vida, Montana would travel with her family to Sidney, Montana 3 times a week to participate in a gymnastic program. Her family did this for 7 years, she explained they changed clothes in the car, ate meals in the car, did their homework in the car. She couldn't thank her parents enough for the opportunity they provided for her and her siblings. Her parents John and DeeAnn Urton of Vida brought gymnastics to Circle, they ran the program for the first year or so, out of the VFW dance hall. Then took the opportunity to purchase the ------------- building. Gymnastics has been active in Circle for 16 years now. Kama went to college and returned home in 2012, and now works at the McCone Clinic and runs the Circle EMG (Eastern Montana Gymnastics), also shows Appaloosa Horses in her spare time. I asked how she gets funding, she charges for the lessons and this wonderful community has donated she mentioned C & B donating backpacks, Grasslands Credit Union sponsored warmup outfits, Circle Softball Club donated the bleacher in the building. I asked how many kids participate, 23 kids, she has tiny tots, which she explained was walking age and up. She is very proud of "her kids, they compete against much bigger schools/Towns. They practice April-August 1 day a week for 3 hours. August-March twice a week for 3 hours. To compete, age 5 is a requirement. Hailey Vine helps with choreography and Joleen Wagner assists with the coaching. The EMG Booster Club organized by Amanda Hove is the best place to contact if wanting to contribute. They EMG has a Facebook page where you can keep up on the Gymnasts. I asked Kama if there were anything she would like the readers to know, I hope I got it all, "Thank You for supporting the facility, I love working with every single kid to watch them grow and watch them get stronger, learn coordination and balance. Gymnastic teaching them how to win and how to lose, to compete against towns much bigger then Circle, I'm just really proud of our gym and kids." Kama has a great vision for the building and future of gymnastics in Circle. Oh and of course she would eat an apple over and orange.
