SUCCESS ON FARM DEPENDS ON MAN

M.L. Wilson outlines results of his survey in North Central Montana

Success on any farm depends first of all upon the man that operates it, according to M.L. Wilson, farm management demonstrator of the Montana State College extension service, the results of whose study of farms and farmers in north central Montana are summarized in a recent bulletin. 8 point of profitable farm. 1. Success depends primarily upon the personality and adaptability of the farmer: 2. Insure a living for himself and his family on his farm through the necessary diversification ; 3. Wheat will continue to be the cash crop. 4. Farmer must farm large acreage -which means cheap land- in order to "cash in" when his good crop does come. 5. Large acreage requires reducing expenses of production by cutting down labor by the use of large teams, perhaps from 8 to 12 horses, and efficient machinery. 6. Proper tillage, eradication of weeds. 7. Plane a reserve of feed, seed and cash to tide him over no-crop years, which he must anticipate. 8. "dry land irrigation" by utilizing the water run off during seasons of excess precipitation.

Fire in the Boetcher home, located just across the tracks from the elevators, was discovered about eleven o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Fire had apparently been started by an overheated stove and had gained such headway by the time the fire department had been called. The building was owned by McCone County.
