WEDDING BELLS RING

Many young people staring out New Year in "Double Harness"

Schillinger-Kirchner

Marriage vows were spoken Wednesday morning at six o'clock at the Catholic Church when Matilda Schillinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shillinger Sr., of Vida, became the bride of Eugene T. Kirchner, son of Mr. and MRs K.F. Kirchner of Circle. Father Rath performed the ceremony in the presence of Mr. and Mrs. John Moriarty, the only attendants at the wedding.

Styer Weds

Chas. W. Styer, the popular and well-known Sand Creek merchant is another who recently "done got married". Chas dropped us a line a short time ago, "informing us that he now was a much-married man but neglected to tell us just when the happy event took place, nor the name of the lucky young lady.

Yackey Weds

The editor was pleasantly surprised in opening the mail on Thursday to find an announcement of the marriage on January 11th-that very day-of Mr. Chas. W. Yackey, to Miss Grace Lee Wilson, the happy event took place at Bozeman, Montana.

Haggerty-Bidwell

The marriage of Miss Frances Haggerty, daughter of E.P. Haggerty of this city to James A. Bidwell of Union was solemnized at the rectory on Wednesday, Jan. 3rd at 11 o'clock a.m. The service was read by Rev. Father Webber.

Van Norman Couple Married

Joseph Roney and Miss Florence Crockett, both of Van Norman, were united in marriage at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon by Judge W.J. Dunnigan at this office on North Sixth street in the presence of Sam Lonning and Laura Haugen.

Paris Couple Wed

Fred Carl Chambers of Paris, 80 miles north of the city and Miss Carrie Finkbiner, arrived in Miles City Friday and secured a license to wed from Cupid Linderberg, clerk of the district court.

Watkins Couple Married December 16

An epidemic of measles has broken out at Wolf Point with hundreds of cases on record. Wolf Point schools are closed.

COUNTY NEWS

Brockway

MR and MRs Fred Trautman and daughter Velma of Skull Creek community were pleasantly surprised last week when Mr. and MRs Ed Hieb and daughter Lila and friend drove into their yard from Cleveland, North Dakota to help them celebrate New Year's Day. Mrs. Ed Hieb is a sister of Mr. Trautman's. They continued on their way to Idaho and California Where they will visit for two months.

THE STATE

Robert H Michaels has been nominated for the postmaster of Miles City.

Missoula-Damages of $9,535 are asked in a suit filed by Mrs. Mabel McLaughlin, wife of L.T. McLaughlin, against Sheriff A.G. Cole and the Hartford Accident & Indemnity company, his surety bondsmen. The action is an outgrowth of MRs McLaughlin's arrest May 5 last on a charge of transporting "moonshine" liquor.

FARM HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE

The farm home of MR and MRs Richard Lockhart was destroyed by fire last week. The building and its contents were a total loss. Cause of the fire is unknown, and it is just a miracle that the other buildings were saved. This is certainly hard luck for our neighbor, especially at this time of year and with building materials so hard to get.

DEATH CALLS MRS NORMA SHEELY

Local residents were shocked to learn of the death on January 1st of Mrs Ralph Sheely of the Lindsay community, farmer Circle resident.

VIDA NEWS BRIEFS

Mr and MRs Bert Bogar and Dorothy are here from Billings this week visiting. MRs L.C. Kelly who has been quite ill with an abscessed ear, is much improved at this time.

FISHING IS GOOD

A lot of folks are taking advantage of this fine weather to go fishing out at Fort Peck Lake and "they're biting". Ralph Meyers, max Lehman and Keith Putman got a nice string of Perch forepart of week and Ralph caught a Ling weighing 5 3-4 lbs.

WELDON NEWS ITEMS

Leonard Pawlowski moved his sheep to his range on McGuire Creek last week. Mrs Ralph Dreyer is visiting with her parents at Poplar this week. Mrs Cutting and Mr and MRs Kristian Rosseland were visitors in Glendive last weekend.

BROCKWAY SCHOOL NOTES

Mr. Axtell spent the holiday at Wibaux. Merle and Everett Boyd were at their homes during vacation. The members of the debating team are spending most of their surplus time on the debate. They meet Terry January 9th. Herbert Syverson, Grace Fleming, and Alice Seeley are on the team. Everette Boyd had an unusually good time at the dance last Saturday. For-A certain other boy was at another dance. Miss Hinnaland and Miss Adams have taken a few flying tackles at the ices with bad results to the ice and the people also.

GETS 15 to 30 YEARS

Judge Leiper was here Thursday and sentenced Alden Cooley to a term of from 15 to 30 years in the state petitionary at Deer Lodge. Sheriff Sullivan will accompany him on his journey to the pen the latter part of the week. Cooley was arrested on the 19 at Glendive by Sullivan and when arraigned by Justice of the Peace Fults he entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of rape.

MID-RIVERS GET 3 MILLION LOAN

Mid-Rivers Telephone of Circle has received a loan in excess of 3 million from the Rural Electrification Administration, according to Senate majority leader Mike Mansfield. ..... The funds, Manfield's office said, are to be used to construct 265 miles of new line, financing of a dial central office building in the west Sidney, Lambert, Fallon, Lindsay and Rygate exchanges and toll facilities at the Rygate exchange.

TOWN COUNCIL RAPS WITH SOME STUDENTS

Three seniors from Circle High School, Denise Larson, Derinda Curtiss and Mark Heide, attended the Town Council meeting January 8. Mayor Ed Elverud and the councilman did their best to answer questions posed by the three and to explain the workings of city government. The Council authorized the Clerk to place $12,500 of city funds into CDs for various amounts and lengths of time to be removed as needed to run the city.

GOOD REPSONSE ON TROPHY REQUEST BY C CLUB

Rolandson's Imp., Sam's Service Center, Ernst's Super Valu, Gambles, Avis Dohn, Chapin Drug, Pea vey Co., Travelers Inn, Stockman Lanes, Lund Imp., and Conoco were businesses who responded to the recent request by the "C" Club for trophy donations.

SHADE CREEK

Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Eriksen and sons were visitors at the Skyberg home on Rock Creek.

VIDA

The Bud Ericksons spent several days with Diana and Arch Tamietti in Superior. Loren Schillinger was on the honor roll at MSU for the fall quarter.

VISITORS

At Phillip Haglunds over Christmas and New Year's holidays were Pam and Lon Eliason, Frank and friends from Louisiana, Kathy and Smitty ?cree, Nancy Nunnink from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Ruth (nee Haglund) and Cliff Orton from Provo, Utah.

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY

John. E McCarthy, retired railroad employee, will celebrate his 100th birthday anniversary Sunday at the Twin Falls home of his daughter, Mrs Russell Thomas, 1341 11th Avenue East. He attributes His long life to being sensible and moderate in everything he does.

BROCKWAY ELEVATOR TO REBUILD

The Board of Directors of Farmers Union Elevator decided, as a result of the stockholders meeting held January 6, to rebuild the elevator at Brockway which was destroyed by fire.

ON EMC HONOR ROLL

Janice Schock of Vida is listed on the fall quarter honor roll of Easter Montana College.

SURPRISE PARTY

Mrs. Mary Holzworth was surprised with a birthday. party on Friday, the last day of school before vacation.

SNOWMOBILE ROLLS OVER

Walter Senner of Bloomfield was working on his snowmobile Saturday afternoon when he took it on a trial run. The snowmobile hit a patch of ice and

rolled three ties knocking him unconscious. ... He has a brain concussion and facial lacerations.

Mr and MRs Buechler Marilyn Hansen and Kenneth Buechler were united in marriage December 31 at the Community Methodist Church in Richey.

NEWS

Holiday activities was a happy occasion for Duane and Irene Gackle when Boyd and Lisa Gackle and three children came from Plano, Texas. Duane and Irene met them in Gardiner on December 22 and spent a lovely day snowmobiling. Irene said it was mild, sunny weather and no wind, so they clocked 150 miles of exciting trails. .. Also here was the Gackle's other son, Derek and his girlfriend Melissa Burkhart, a student at Minot State, Derek teaches seventh and eighth grade English in the Columbus school and is assistant football and track coach.

On Saturday evening, December 16 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mackin occurred the marriage of Miss Jacoba Rademacher to John Clifford Albers of Watkins, Mont., the Rev. L. A. Losey of the Community church at Terry performing the ceremony.
